The Passing of a Great Friend~

Many of you may know that Connie’s cancer had returned when she closed Quilting Plus. I wanted to let everyone know she passed away. She loved and cared for all of us, was blessed to be able to call her my friend.~Sue T.

 

TOMAH — Connie J. Johnson, 58, of Tomah passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at her

She was born on Dec. 8, 1954, to Raymond and Evelyn (Clark) Riffle at Tomah. Connie was a member of the Tomah High School graduating class of 1973. On June 13, 1998, Connie united in marriage to Charlie Johnson at Church of Christ in Tomah. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2012.

She worked at Toro on the assembly line and later as a welder until her retirement in 2006. After her retirement she owned and operated Quilting Plus. Quilting was her passion she could be found quilting almost every day. She belonged to the Tomah Quilting Club as well as several other area quilting clubs. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Charlie. They traveled together across the U.S., as well as taking several cruises, they enjoyed camping and bicycling. Connie had a very generous and kind personality, and had “spunk” for life. Throughout her illness she had an unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior. Her family was most important to her. Spending time with her family and friends is what she enjoyed most. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, step-mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Travis (Sheila) Smith of Tomah, and Shawn Smith (Sharon) of Necedah; a stepdaughter, Cassie (Kevin) Schober; two stepsons, Curt (Kristen) and Clay (Jackie); 19 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter; six brothers and sisters; her mother-in-law, Jeanette of Tomah; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Grace Bible Church, located at the corner of Main street and Church street in Warrens. Pastor Dennis Frost will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E.
